Proof of work

Proof that I worked on Amelia. No words written but more extensive plotting worked out than I had before and put down in a flexible manner so that I can add to it as more comes to me. I primarily focused on how the primary Amelia/Kelly relationship can develop amongst the events of the HD-recovery and Det. Donnelly's investigating the Tong.

I have a couple hours until play rehearsal tonight and I know I should try to write 500-1000 words before that. I keep getting distracted with various social networking sites though. I spent quite a bit of time messing with my phone trying to figure out the most efficient way of uploading the photo you see here to the web without my computer cable. And then another extensive amount of time spent trying to decide whether or not to link this blog directly with my Twitter feed (ultimately chose not to at the moment since my twitter features slightly worse language than this and is only tangentially related to this blog's topic. )

Here's a quick current word count for Amelia after having started work on a later sequence scene this afternoon (attempting to forcibly break thru my writers block by skipping ahead lol)

2599 / 80000 words. 3% done!

May or may not write the sex scene immediately following where i paused just now. It has a definitely nice 'fade to black' but a big part of this story idea revolves around its place in the racier chick lit genre so we'll see.

Woops?

So I ran out of steam. I don't think I've effectively written anything on Amelia in about a week. I read thru the 1800 words I had yesterday and made a few corrections and now I'm sitting here sipping my coffee and thinking Damnit Kellianne, what happens next??

I have the whole general plot written up, that's never been a problem with my writing process. The hard part is figuring out the details. The tiny things that happen in between the big events.

I was hopeful that I would be able to give a good showing for Camp Nanowrimo but that is definitely NOT going to happen now. I only have 2 weeks left and I know there's no way I'll manage to write 48K in that period of time. Perhaps I can give myself a slightly smaller goal, however, say 23K more and finish with 25K give or take? Thats a little under 1/3 of the total length I need for this story but I think it works out to 1.6K a day word count. Hard but if I refuse to let myself be a lazy sod doable right? And that's the whole part of my participation in Camp in the first place, to set myself a goal and get into a habit.

Here's an excerpt from How Amelia etc Retired With all the Money:

Story Ideas

So I was railroaded this afternoon by a story idea just begging to be written. I've only scribbled out the outline and working title thus far but after some nosh, a beer and the new episode of Wilfred tonight I plan to tuck in and do a bit of writing.

For now I'll leave you with the title and brief summary, thoughts welcome:

How Amelia Beasley Victoria Anne Commons Retired with all the Money - the story of how former mobster Amelia Commons discharged her debt to Interpol & MI6, learned to surf, fell a little bit love and retired on Waikiki Beach with Sir Francis Bellmoore's fortune.

3034 / 85000 words. 4% done!

I fell two days behind due to parties, dinners and the holiday (only 500 words written between July 3/4) but I plan on doing a little more writing this evening that will hopefully get today on track and the whole thing moving forward.

Still waiting for inspiration about my 'inciting incident' to round out chapter one. I have most of the rest of it written.

Music rec for today which I think is also fairly applicable to the novel is:

Animal by Miike Snow, the chorus is brilliant, I just want to crank it up and dance around with my eyes closed. The vid's pretty awesome too. I think this song is begging to be remixed well but I have yet to hear a remix of it that improves on the original. total fail.

Proof of writing goals

2077 / 85000 words. 2%

From yesterday. I havent been able to meet a 1500/day goal so I scaled it back to 1000/day which has actually been fairly doable the last couple days. It's just a process of take a little time away and saying ok going to do this until I write X number of words and not allowed to do anything else until that goal is reached. About 40% of yesterday's words were, for example, written while I was stuck in the bathroom letting my hair colour develop lol

Am slowly learning to appreciate the writing in pieces tendency. I have three distinct scenes from three different sections already written out. One is in the wrong person and is actual from 2 months ago and may therefore get completely axed (its not included in my running word count for that reason) another is a very rough sketch of a very late scene during the climax which I original intended to be chapter one but don't feel strongly enough to place there. And currently I'm working on something that feels more like the latter half of chapter one rather than the actual beginning. I need an opener, a real grabby exciting incident to lead with and either make a leap forward in time (ie 12 Hours Later, that sort of thing) or make a leap back in time (like 5 Day Ago). I just havent zeroed in on what that should be yet. I have determined to just forge ahead with what I have at the moment, a case and a bit of misdirection building to the main plot, and see what comes to me.

Friend Katie is having her graduation celebration today, very exciting. Huge shout out to her for being absolutely awesome. I'm so happy for her, that's she done and all mastered up XD

Soundtrack for Red Inside (working title)

1. Fire in Your New Shoes by Kaskade feat. Martina Sobara (of Dragonette)
This is the title song and my No.1 inspiration for Red Inside. I adore Martina Sobara, her style, her hair and her voice are delectable.

2. Holding Out for a Hero remix cover by Frou Frou
I really love the original version of this song BUT I think this cover by Imogen Heap really stands on its own two feet as both a tribute to the original and a NEW fresh take on the classic. This song is also my personal "Sherlock BBC" theme.

3. I Am Not a Robot by Martina & the Diamonds
This song keeps me in mind where Cam is going over the course of not just this story but the serial arch.

Will add more as my personal playlist for this story grows. Currently switching between listening to a Martina & the Diamonds and a BellX1 station on pandora.

Woo Hoo!
